City Rope Access provides professional rope access concrete, brick and stone repair services
for commercial, residential and high-rise buildings across London.
Our technicians can reach difficult façade areas where conventional access methods may be
impractical or unnecessarily disruptive.

We carry out localised concrete repairs, brickwork repairs, repointing, masonry remedial work
and repairs to damaged external stonework as part of planned maintenance or reactive building repairs.

Before repair work begins, the affected area should be assessed to understand the extent
of deterioration and the likely cause. Cracking, loose material, water ingress, corrosion
and failed joints may require different repair approaches depending on the substrate
and condition of the building.

High-Level Masonry Repairs

Concrete, Brick & Stone Repair Services

External façades can deteriorate as a result of weather exposure, moisture,
movement and ageing materials. Rope access allows our technicians to reach
localised defects on difficult or high-level areas of a building without
surrounding the entire property with scaffolding.

Concrete Repairs

Localised remedial work to cracked, damaged or deteriorated concrete
on difficult-to-access external areas.

Concrete Spalling

Investigation and remedial work where concrete has cracked, broken away
or exposed areas of the underlying reinforcement.

Brickwork Repairs

Repairs to damaged or deteriorated brickwork on façades,
parapets and other external building elements.

Brickwork Repointing

Removal and replacement of deteriorated mortar joints where repointing
forms part of an agreed façade repair programme.

Stone Repairs

Localised repair of damaged external stone elements where close access
is required to assess and carry out the remedial work.

Façade Remedial Work

Targeted repair work to individual areas of masonry and concrete
as part of wider building maintenance.

Warning Signs

Signs That External Masonry May Need Attention

Façade defects can develop gradually and may not always be easy to assess
from ground level. Cracking, loose material or water staining can indicate
that closer inspection is required.

The appearance of a defect alone does not always establish its cause.
The surrounding façade, exposure and condition of adjacent materials
should also be considered before repair work is specified.

Defects Worth Investigating

  • Cracked concrete
  • Loose or missing sections of material
  • Exposed reinforcement
  • Rust staining on concrete
  • Deteriorated mortar joints
  • Loose or damaged bricks
  • Cracked stonework
  • Water staining around masonry
  • Recurring defects in previously repaired areas

Our Process

How a Rope Access Repair Project Works

The condition of the affected area and the likely cause of deterioration
should be considered before remedial work begins.

01

Site Assessment

We review the affected façade areas, access requirements and visible defects.

02

Repair Planning

The required access, preparation and agreed repair scope are planned
before work starts.

03

Preparation

Loose or deteriorated material is addressed and the repair area
is prepared according to the agreed method.

04

Repair & Review

The agreed repair is completed and the finished area is reviewed
as part of the project scope.

Concrete Deterioration

What Is Concrete Spalling?

Concrete spalling describes areas where the surface of the concrete cracks,
flakes or breaks away. In some cases, deterioration can expose reinforcement
beneath the surface and may be accompanied by rust staining or cracking.

Spalling can have several causes, so repair should be based on the actual
condition of the concrete rather than simply covering the visible damage.

guide to concrete spalling

for an explanation of common warning signs and causes.

Brick & Stone

Masonry Repairs & Repointing

Brick and stone façades can develop cracked joints, localised damage,
weathering and other defects over time. Repointing or masonry repair may
be required where deterioration is affecting individual sections of the façade.

Where Rope Access Can Help

Localised Repairs on Difficult-to-Access Façades

Rope access can be particularly useful where repairs are concentrated
on individual sections of an elevation and extensive temporary access
infrastructure would be disproportionate to the required work.
